About Worship at Wy’east UU
Our Sunday worship services are reflective of the diversity of our beliefs and practices, and explore a wide range of themes. Each service includes the lighting of our chalice (the symbol of our faith), singing several hymns, and readings that inspire us. Most services also include a sermon or reflection from our minister or guest speaker, but will on occasion be some kind of special program like a Flower Communion, our annual Children’s Pageant, or a service project.
Most services will follow a familiar format that includes:
- A Gathering Hymn before the service begins
- Lighting the Chalice
- Inspiring Words such as Readings & Meditations
- Story for All Ages
- Collecting an Offering
- Sermon/Reflection
- Joys & Sorrows
Children and families are always welcome. Every service includes a story for all ages, before children go to their own program. You can learn more about the Religious Exploration (RE) program in the Learning menu.
Parents and guardians are always welcome to join their children during RE classes until everyone is comfortable, or children can stay in the worship service with their parent(s).
After the worship service, we gather for coffee, treats, fellowship, and conversation. On some Sundays we offer the opportunity to engage in a discussion about the sermon/reflection/topic of the service.
Whatever your background – religious or not – our joyful, compassionate, and curious community is a place to explore, ask questions, and grow with others.
