Our small group ministry programs for adults offer a variety of ways to deepen and explore connection, spirit, and meaning with others. In addition to these groups, our minister will occasionally offer opportunities for learning and spiritual search.
Wy’east Small Groups are open to members and non-members/friends of the congregation. Groups are run by volunteers, and anyone can have the opportunity to lead or host a group.
The following groups are currently meeting:
Chalice Circle
Generally meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month in the evening on Zoom. This small group ministry and shared practice provides rich opportunities for connection, spiritual/personal exploration, and building community. These caring circles meet to share by listening deeply to each other and feeling deeply heard. New participants may join at any time. Contact Debra to learn more.
Poetry Circle
This group meets to share favorite poems, reading aloud, and sharing feedback. Poems come from many traditions, and many are written by the reader. This group meets intermittently in person.
Social Justice
Our congregation has a strong commitment to social justice, and members of this committee meet monthly on Zoom. It nominates Wy’east’s Social Justice Focus for the year; creates monthly “Special Collections” which go to mostly-local organizations doing good work aligned with that focus; and produces the bi-monthly, Sunday morning speaker series on the same subject. Additionally, this committee nominates and works with one of these organizations that is chosen for a three-year, Sustained Partnership — the current one being Y.O.U.TH. Book Group
This group chooses a book each month to read and then discuss over a soup supper at a member’s home. We read a mix of fiction and non-fiction works selected by the group. Contact worship@wyeastuu.org to learn more.
Men’s Group
This is an intergenerational group of men who gather twice monthly on Zoom for community and care. All who identify as male are welcome.
